Love the story abt the lost opal pendant. What a sequence of events! Stones have such histories – I wonder what happened to the blue opal your wife lost in a trash basket. Hope someone found that stone. Maybe someone will some day.

I lost a diamond once. It fell out of my ring. I was really upset and mentioned it to a tradesman who was doing some home repairs for us. He said he’d check something for me. He looked in the fluff in the clothes dryer pipes and then said, “Is there a finder’s fee!?” He’d found it! He said he’d found stones before in dryers so checked it for me. Yes, we did give him a finder’s fee, but of course the diamond was worth much more and he was, obviously, a very honest and nice man. By the way – my mom and dad absolutely loved visiting Lightning Ridge! Do you go there often?

I have see the opals, they are very pretty, Let me say Peter would be a good person to learn how to grade cot these fine stones.
